The Gaming Giant Recruits Apex Legends Lead to Revitalize Challenged Hero Shooter Project Ethos
The renowned publisher has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Shift Follows Lukewarm Reception
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing unveiling last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure updated team members about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a distinct direction.
The president noted that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a refreshed vision, aiming to address community desires.
A Pattern of Strategic Recruitment
This announcement follows a similar step taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to work on the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete message from the president's announcement:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Previously I shared you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and talented designers we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re excited for that partnership to persist.”
Through your commitment and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game testing phase was enlightening. It confirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It revealed the necessity for a sharper identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the criticism to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s ready to fulfill its potential to our fans.
The belief in Project ETHOS grows every day. To further the remarkable development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce Ben Brinkman as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. After a period of talks, Ben officially joins us on next week.
His leadership and expertise in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having dedicated the recent years producing and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in the industry, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in receiving Ben next week. We are all excited to continue seeing the progress of the game in the months to ahead.
David

Game Information and Vision
The upcoming game was revealed in last year in conjunction with a early access event. At the time, the developers described the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an thrilling evolution on the style."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in live gameplay to suit your personal playstyle," the game's pitch explains. "Face the rivals with new abilities, challenges, and challenges that change every match. Do you withdraw carefully with your collected items? Or aim high, risk it all, and pray your squad can achieve the highest spot? The choice is in your hands."
Project Ethos has not yet received an announced debut schedule or platforms, but players can look forward to more updates as creation advances.
